Marines from Camp Pendleton will be conducting an amphibious assault early Tuesday morning that could delay traffic on Interstate 5 at Basilone Road.

Drivers in the area may encounter intermittent traffic delays between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Tuesday.

As part of the training, 11 assault vehicles from the 1st Marine Division will land at the Green Beach training area which is adjacent to San Onofre State Beach.

The vehicles will be required to exit the beach by driving along Old Highway 101 and crossing the Basilone Road overpass of Interstate 5 to reach inland training areas.

This operation will require temporarily blocking portions of Old Highway 101 as well as the north and southbound off-ramps of Interstate 5 at Basilone Road.
