Marines Prepare to Deploy from Camp Pendleton

The Marines will depart late Sunday morning after saying goodbye to their loved ones at the North County Marine Corp installation, officials said.

About 140 Marines will leave Camp Pendleton this weekend for Afghanistan, where they will remain until later this year, base officials announced today.

The Marines will depart late Sunday morning, after saying goodbye to their loved ones at the North County Marine Corp installation, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office.

They comprise about half of I Marine Expeditionary Force command element's main body and are expected to relieve Marines and sailors from Camp Lejeune, N.C. in both Helmand and Nimroz provinces.
