Cafe 101 Mural Under Restoration [Video Clip]

Artist Robert Cording is touching up the 2005 mural and is applying a protective coat.

When you drive up Coast Highway from Carlsbad, you know you’re in Oceanside when you see the hot rods and roller waitresses on the “Crusin’” mural at the historic 101 Cafe.  And if you ever thought it lost its pop, take a look again.

Mural artist Robert Cording took a brush Saturday to restore the 2005 piece to its original color and is adding a UV protective coat to help it endure, he wrote in a MainStreet Oceanside newsletter.

The original painting was made in 2005 by Larry Hill.
