This year has provided no shortages of news in Oceanside and Camp Pendleton.

This year has provided no shortages of news in Oceanside and Camp Pendleton.

In May, Oceanside lost its hometown hero Junior Seau. Possibly the most widely read loss of a Marine was that of Sgt. Manny Loggins, a father who was shot by an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy in February.

Municipal elections in Oceanside were big news, though all incumbents on the council kept their seats. And always popular are videos and galleries of Marines coming home to their loved ones after deployments.

Here, in no particular order, are 10 of the most popular stories on Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch:

  • Junior Seau Death Being Investigated as Suicide
  • Teen Rescues Girl Hours After Becoming Lifeguard
  • Tea Party Marine Denied Request to Halt Separation Hearing
  • Wuterich Squad Mate Maintains He Was in Charge of Haditha Convoy
  • Jim Wood Wins Oceanside Mayoral Seat
