Artillery May Be Heard from Camp Pendleton Wednesday

A 21-gun salute shot with canons at about noon Wednesday may be heard up to 50 miles away.

Camp Pendleton artillery units will be conducting a 21-gun ceremonial salute in observance of Independence Day at the 21 Area Del Mar Beach Resort from noon to 12:05 p.m. Wednesday.

The Del Mar Beach Resort is located in the southern portion of base and borders the Oceanside harbor.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
