Oceanside concerned about traffic? Since when? We have a bottleneck every day at I-5 and Oceanside Blvd; I-5 and Hwy. 78; El Camino Real and Vista Way to name just a few. We stall on the extension of Melrose, we took 30 years to get going on Hwy 76. At least Carlsbad gets the fact that people have kids at a more rapid rate than people die, hence a greater population. And these people need easier ways to get around our cities. We lost Car Country Carlsbad to them, The Mall, Costco, Legoland, etc. We are ticketed in front of our own houses when the street sweeper comes around. Their sweepers just go around. We pay for parking at our beaches, they don't, except for Tamarak (state owned). Oceanside is a much larger city than Carlsbad (about 80,000 more people) but we still have a City Council that thinks we just got off the stagecoach and settled here. People are still going to come to this city, we know that and can't stop that. How about building for it? We still can have a store between Mission and Hwy 76 to keep our tax dollars in Oceanside instead of outsourcing them to Carlsbad or Vista. You voted for these 5 and it's almost always a 3-2 vote. You knew that going in, and you voted for them anyway. I would be amazed if Oceanside finally did something right for a change. I've lived here for 50 years, still waiting for a good Council to get things done that the citizens want.
