A Camp Pendleton-based Marine was killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense reported Saturday.
Sgt. Michael J. Guillory, 28, of Pearl River, La., died Friday in Helmand province and the incident remained under investigation, according to the Department of Defense.
Guillory was assigned to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion at Camp Pendleton, officials said.
