Twentynine Palms Marine Killed in Afghanistan

Lance Cpl. Joshua D. Corral, 19, of Danville, CA, died Nov. 18 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.

A 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Marine was killed in Afghanistan Friday.

Lance Cpl. Joshua D. Corral, 19, of Danville, CA, died of wounds sustained while conducting combat operations in Helmand province. He was a machine gunner assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, based at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, CA.

Corral began serving in the Marine Corps on July 19, 2010. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

His personal service awards include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
