Free Family Art Day: Mixed Media Sculpture at Oceanside Museum of Art

Learn the art of sculpture at the next Free Family Art Day where families can create mixed media sculptures inspired by two of OMA’s exhibits: In Search of Shadows by artist James Hubbell and Flavia Gilmore’s assemblage exhibition: Paper, Wood, Metal. Kids will have the opportunity to explore a variety of different media and create their own three-dimensional form using wood, paper, Styrofoam, tin foil, wire, yarn and other found objects. At Free Family Art Day, children and their parents work closely in the artistic process designing small works of art that reflect concepts and themes from the exhibitions on view. All art activities and exhibitions on view are free to the public. Projects are designed to engage children of all ages. No art experience is required for the art activities. Healthy refreshments and kid-centric docent tours will be provided.
