Eat Out in Oceanside to Raise Money for Local HIV/AIDS Programs

Three North County restaurants will donate a portion of today's revenues to the North County LGBTQ Resource Center.

More than 80 restaurants are scheduled to participate today in San Diego's eighth annual "Dining Out for Life" fundraiser, which collects money for HIV/AIDS programs at the LGBT Community Center.

The restaurants will donate varying amount of the day's revenues, from 25 to 100 percent, according to the event's organizers.

The Oceanside restaurants participating are:

Hill Street Cafe at 524 S. Coast Highway (until 9 p.m.), PCH Sports Bar & Grille at 1835 S. Coast Highway (until 10 p.m.) and Petite Madeline Bakery at 223 N. Coast Highway (until 7 p.m.).

The Mission locations in downtown, Hillcrest and Mission Beach will donate 100 percent of its food and liquor proceeds, while the Adams Avenue Grill will give half of its take through Sunday.

Other restaurants donating 50 percent today will be Barrio Star in Park West, Mariposa Ice Cream in Normal Heights, Wang's North Park, and Hillcrest establishments the Brass Rail, East Village Asian Diner, Martinis Above Fourth in Hillcrest, Project Pie, Fresh Asian Bar and Bistro, and Which Wich.

Among those scheduled to take part are Rep. Scott Peters, D-San Diego, and his election opponent, former Councilman Carl DeMaio; Assemblywomen Toni Atkins and Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego; Mayor Kevin Faulconer and members of the City Council and San Diego Unified Board of Education.

The LGBT Center says more than 20,000 San Diegans are living with HIV/AIDS.
