Memorial Fund Raises $20K for Mom, Daughter Killed in Crash

Jillian Sedivec leaves behind an 8-year-old daughter.

Less than two weeks after a tragic accident took the life of an Oceanside mother originally from San Clemente and her 4-year-old daughter near the Border Patrol checkpoint, a memorial fund for has already raised nearly $20,000.

Jillian Sedivec and her daughter, Savanah, were heading north on the I-5 Freeway at about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 10 when their car slammed into the back of a grocery store tractor-trailer. Officials with the California Highway Patrol said Sedivec did not apply her brakes before the collision.

According to a FundRazr page designed to solicit donations set up by her father, Sedivec leaves behind an 8-year-old daughter who was not in the car at the time of the accident.

Jeff Sedivec told the San Diego Union-Tribune that Savanah had a genetic disease and that his daughter’s life revolved around his granddaughter.

“My heart aches with each passing second. I can’t help but believe that you and Savi are finally at peace...together. You showed the true definition of being the most loving and caring mother in the world,” wrote one donor who gave $1,000 to the memorial fund. “Give the little one that huge kiss I was never able to give her. Watch over us all and give us the strength to make it through this difficult time. Your family are all in my continuous prayers.”
