Thousands are celebrating Day of the Dead this week. Some Calavera Catrinas and Catrins were spotted by Patch.

Members of the Mexican community throughout San Diego County are celebrating the Day of the Dead holiday this week.

The ancient Dia de los Muertos holiday is a time to celebrate those who have died and its most well known icon is “La Calavera Catrina”—the skeleton of a high class woman.

The Day of the Dead celebration at the Old Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside had plenty of Catrinas and their male counterparts, Catrins.
