Community Corner

Rubio's CoastFest

Rubio’s, the brand known for its craveable coastal cuisine and popularizing the fish taco, is inviting all Southern California residents to its free celebration of the ocean, CoastFest, to be held on May 10, 2014, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 200 N the Strand, Oceanside, CA 92054.

Kicking off at 10 a.m., Rubio’s is asking community members to team up with its executives, team members, fans and friends to go the extra nautical mile at its beach cleanup hosted by I Love a Clean San Diego. Last year, Rubio’s beach cleanup removed more than 350 pounds of trash from the coastline. Beach cleanup guests should plan to bring a bucket, gloves, and reusable water bottle. For more beach cleanup information and to download the participation waiver, please visit: www.rubios.com/CoastFest.

Following the beach cleanup, the celebration of the ocean continues. The third annual CoastFest, designed to educate the community about ocean conservation, is full of exciting freebies and activities, including: prizes from the Rubio’s prize wheel; face painting; an ocean pledge wall; complimentary food and drinks; the Ocean Institute’s “Ocean in Motion” aquarium touch tank; a photo booth to capture the day’s memories; a Kids' Zone; an inflatable jumpy house; a mobile learning center courtesy of the Wyland Foundation® and free surf lessons from Surfin’ Fire.
