Investigation into Fatal Crash in Oceanside Continues

The head-on crash on Oceanside Boulevard killed a woman and injured several other people.

Oceanside police continue to investigate a head-on crash that killed a woman and injured several other people.

The crash in the 4000 block of Oceanside Boulevard occurred about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Oceanside police Sgt. Gabe Jimenez.

An eastbound Acura Integra crossed the center median and struck a palm tree before entering westbound lanes and striking a Nissan Sentra, Jimenez said in a statement.

A man driving the Acura was thrown out of the vehicle and landed in westbound lanes, Jimenez said, noting he sustained serious injuries and was taken to a trauma center. The man's passenger, a woman, died at the scene, according to the sergeant.

Occupants of the Nissan sustained moderate injuries and were also taken to a trauma center, he said.

"Although the investigating is ongoing, speed could be a contributing factor," Jimenez said. "The name of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin."
