VIDEO: Man Shot Near Oceanside High School

Oceanside Police are searching for men involved in the shooting of a 23-year-old male Friday evening on the corner of Center Avenue and Division Street.

Oceanside Police are searching for two men involved in the shooting of a 20-year-old male Friday evening near the corner of Center Avenue and Division Street. The man was flown to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition with stable life signs. 

Police received reports at 8:25 p.m. of some seven shots being fired in Crown Heights. Witnesses told police two men drove up in a black sedan, got out and shot a 20-year-old man several times.

Resident Victor Renteria said he saw wounds to man’s chest and head as well as shotgun casings some ten feet away. 

The shooting happened about a block south of Oceanside High School. Renteria said he saw a blue Volkswagen Passat drive off and saw two men run through the campus. He added that he drove his car around and saw one man exit through the Mission Avenue side. No students were involved, police say.

Lt. Sean Marchand, of the Oceanside Police Department, said the victim was speaking as he was treated for his injuries. His name will be released pending notification of his family.

Residents of Crown Heights were shaken by the incident, the North County Times reports.
