Oceanside PD Catches Suspected Car Thief

The suspected perpetrator bailed from the vehicle and ran to a residential area.

Police in Oceanside chased down a suspected car thief, first in vehicles, and then on foot, early Saturday morning.

The chase started near the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Sgt. Rick Favela of the Oceanside Police said the suspect bailed out of his vehicle and ran on foot to a residential neighborhood off Tait Street.

Oceanside police called in a helicopter, and with its help, they spotted the suspect in a nearby neighborhood, Favela said.

That was where officers cornered and caught Cameron Brown. His age and city of residence is unclear because he was still in booking as of 7 a.m. Saturday, Favela said.
