Oceanside Police Chief May Soon Retire

The Union Tribune reports Frank McCoy will leave his position later this month.

Oceanside officials have announced that the city’s Police Chief of eight years Frank McCoy will retire later this month, according to a news report.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports that the chief told the council about his decision on Wednesday.

Chief McCoy’s term has had its turbulent moments that included accusations of corruption among some of his officers. In 2012, his wife Brinda Sue McCoy was tried and convicted to a prison term. She was accused of shooting at officers who responded to their Cypress neighborhood on a report that someone was shooting at passing vehicles, according to several news reports.
