Rocker Tim Lambesis Arrested, Suspected of Hiring Another to Commit Murder

Deputies arrested the singer in Oceanside and allege he tried to have his wife—an Encinitas resident—killed.

Sheriff's deputies arrested heavy metal singer Tim Lambesis on Tuesday and charged him with soliciting an undercover detective to kill his wife.

Lambesis—who is the lead singer and co-founder of the heavy metal band “As I lay Dying"—was arrested at 2 p.m. on Vista Way in Oceanside without incident. His estranged wife resides in Encinitas, according to authorities.

He was arrested, transported to the Encinitas Station, and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

As I Lay Dying, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008, has released six studio albums, according to the band's website, which says the group is scheduled to embark on a U.S. tour this month.

No other information was immediately available.
