Oceanside Man Killed During Knife Fight in Vista

Antonio Canseco, 24, died after being stabbed in a park in Vista.

One Oceanside man was killed, and another injured, in a knife fight at a city park in Vista, the Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.

Antonio Canseco, 24, died from wounds he sustained in a fight that was reported at 10:24 p.m. Saturday at Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Dr., east of Vista Way. Another Oceanside man, Martin Hernandez, 21, was stabbed but suffered non-life threatening wounds.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a fight at the park but found those involved had fled. Several witnesses told deputies someone had been stabbed, and in the aftermath Tri City Hospital nurses reported two patients were admitted to the hospital with stab wounds, sheriff’s deputies said.

“The two victims had been brought to the hospital in a vehicle which drove away after dropping them off,” said Lt. Glenn Giannanatonio of the sheriff’s homicide detail. “It is believed the two victims at the hospital were involved in the fight at the park, but the investigation is ongoing to confirm the location where the stabbings took place.”
