Booms may be heard up to 50 miles away.

Loud booms may be heard in the North County this weekend while Camp Pendleton artillery units conduct live-fire training exercises.

The exercises will be conducted on Sunday between 6 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. in the Zulu and Whiskey impact areas, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office. The Zulu and Whiskey impact areas are located near the center of the base and northeast of Las Pulgas.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
