Chavez Named to State Assembly's Health Committee

Chavez said that by serving on the committee he would help ensure that the transition to a national healthcare system is fair to patients, healthcare professionals and insurance companies.

State Assemblymember Rocky Chávez announced Monday he has been appointed to the Assembly Committee on Health.

"This is an opportunity to work on an important issue for the families of California," Chávez said in a statement. 

"The transition to a national healthcare system needs to be fair to the patients, healthcare professionals and insurance companies. I look forward to doing all I can to make that happen."

Chavez, a Republican, represents California’s 76th Assembly District, which includes Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista. He is a former Oceanside city council member.

The Assembly's Committee on Health covers health care, health insurance, Medi-Cal and other public health-care programs, mental health licensing of health and health-related professionals, and long-term health-care facilities
