Rep. Hunter Backs Anti-Obama Marine Gary Stein

The Congressman recently expressed his support for the Marine who blasted the President publicly.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) said he's unhappy about the possible discharge of Sgt. Gary Stein for his remarks about President Barack Obama.

We really are electing idiots who do not understand anything about the military....and this congressman is a reserve officer. It's just incredible, but then again for the congressman, this is a political act.

Perhaps things have changed since My Vietnam days, at least in Duncan Hunter's mind. Hunter lists himself as U.S. Representative/Marine on the primary ballot. In both cases, he is being, at the very least, deceptive. I understand why he doesn't want to use the word "Incumbent." Perhaps some voters won't notice, and will focus on the "Marine.". As to "Marine," the designation used is supposed to be a principle occupation that consumes a significant of one's working day. His use of the term is disingenuous, at best, and more likely just pandering to the military. Even as a reservist, he is unlike any veteran I know, openly defending such behavior. Supporting troops urinating on corpses, burning holy books, blocking investigation into Haditha massacre, and now defending the political activity and insubordination of Stein, show Hunter has forgotten, if he ever knew, that there are such things as honor, military discipline, professionalism, respect, dedication to duty, focus on mission, and something called the UCMJ. I disliked LBJ and Dick Nixon while I was on active duty in Vietnam, but never openly said I would not follow orders. Such commentary is for civilians, which Stein and Hunter will hopefully be soon. If we can drag this "Marine" out of his bunker, I will make his behavior as a "Marine" a part of our debates.
