Councilman Asks for Removal of Mayor from SANDAG Board

Councilman Gary Felien wants Mayor Jim Wood to be moved from the SANDAG board.

Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood "doesn't represent" the City Council or the residents, said Councilman Gary Felien who wants the mayor to be removed from the SANDAG board.

Felien told the North County Times that the mayor "is not fighting for road projects that the majority of the city supports."

Funny that Mayor Wood was OVERWHEMINGLY elected over Mr. Kern if he "doesn't represent the City Council or residents." Just another demonstration of how far out of touch with Oceanside voters Mr. Felien has become. One might ask him WHY he continues to support projects like the Melrose Extension when the Planning Department rejected it, finding that its detriments far outweigh any benefits, that it would cost Oceanside taxpayers $40 million, yet only benefit commuters by seconds coming from Temecula & Riverside, and take residential properties by eminent domain; or WHY Mr. Felien voted to spend yet another $1.5 million on another "study" AFTER its rejection by Planning. It's easy to see who doesn't represent Oceanside residents, and it is NOT the Mayor.

I would be happy to work on a recall campaign for any of the trio on the counsel. These three (one has a hard time artculating a sentence and should have been put out to pasture) do not care about our quality of life here. All those in favor, please meet at the counsel meeting Wednesday.

I don't believe Felien is SO tone-deaf that he won't pay attention to the voters of Oceanside. Why would Felien declare war on the most popular mayor anyone can remember? Didn't he see the results of the voting earlier this month? Does he realize what he would be doing to his chances for re-election if he pushes his narrow-minded view?
