Former 1st Marine Division Officer Caught in Petraeus Sex Scandal

Gen. John Allen, who served in the Camp Pendleton-based 1st Marine Division, is being investigated for alleged inappropriate emails that may link him to the sex scandal that brought down CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus.

The FBI is investigating Gen. John Allen, who served in the Camp Pendleton-based 1st Marine Division, for alleged inappropriate emails between him and Jill Kelley, the Associated Press reports.

Kelley sparked an FBI investigation that revealed an affair between CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus and writer Paula Broadwell.

Officials would not release the nature of the investigation into Allen's correspondence, according to the report. Allen took over for Petraeus as the top American commander in Afghanistan last year.
