Navy Cross Presentation to be Live Streamed at 9 a.m.

Cpl. Christopher Farias will receive the Navy Cross for actions taken in 2010 in Afghanistan.

The presentation of a Navy Cross to Cpl. Christopher Farias will be live streamed beginning at 9 a.m. today.

Presenting the award will be Under Secretary of the Navy Robert Work.

The award's citation highlights the actions for which he is being recognized:

"Farias is being awarded for action in Afghanistan in 2010:Sergeant Farias' swift and courageous actions saved the lives of his fellow Marines under fire from a coordinated and decisive engagement from a determined enemy. His immediate and aggressive tactical response effectively repelled the Taliban ambush from three positions, allowing wounded Marines to be safely evacuated from the kill zone, and preventing the patrol base from being overrun"
