North County Transit to Hold Train Disaster Training

The training will happen at 10 a.m. Wednesday

The following is a news release from the North County Transit District:

North County Transit District will hold a large scale COASTER emergency training exercise Wednesday, December 12. The drill is from 10 a.m. to noon with on-going activities throughout the day. The exercise will take place at the Fallbrook Junction near I-5 and Harbor Drive, Oceanside.

Oceanside Fire Department and other first responders will use the disaster training to hone their response skills in the event of an actual train accident. Metrolink and NCTD’s contractors; TransitAmerica Services, Inc., and Herzog will also participate.

The drill will simulate a COASTER and freight train collision and will incorporate hazardous materials and smoke components. The approximately two hour drill may be visible from the I-5 freeway, Harbor Drive and adjacent residential neighborhoods.

The public will not be allowed access to the area.
