Oceanside Remembers the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

Mayor Jim Wood writes a few words about the lives lost on 9/11 and about the city's free remembrance event being held at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater.

On Sunday, September 11, 2011, in reflection and remembrance of honoring the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the City of Oceanside and Mainstreet Oceanside will be hosting a free event at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater, located at 200 South The Strand. The event will open at 2:00 PM with spiritual music and be followed by tribute speakers from the community. The City of Oceanside and her residents wish to honor those who were lost on that day in New York City, Washington DC and in Pennsylvania. The entire world was been forever changed with these events, but ten years later we still remember what happened as if it were yesterday. On that day, as now, we want to thank our Police, Fire and Military personnel who do so much to protect us and our freedom each and every day. I sincerely hope you will be able to come and join our community to pay your respects to those who lost their lives, to honor their friends and families members who still live with this incredible loss, and to bond with others in our area through this continuous healing process.

—Mayor Jim Wood
