Issa to Face Tetalman for 49th Congressional Seat in November

Darrell Issa took in 58.90 percent of the votes Tuesday.

Republican Congressman Darrell Issa will have Democrat Jerry Tetalman as an opponent for November’s election for the 49th Congressional District. Issa has held the position since 2001.

Issa took in 58.73 percent of the votes and Tetalman followed with 32.92 percent.

Independents Dick Eiden and Albin Novinec got 7 percent and 1.35 percent respectively.

Issa is a former Army Veteran and a California businessman.  Tetalman is a former nurse and owns a real estate and property management company.

Well..what else is new...Americans in this voting district remain ill-informed, are most likely undereducated, and probably just somewhat stupid. A classic example of voting consistently against your own best interests. This guy is a sleazebag from the getgo.

A real sleaze...but not quite as bad as the fat prostitute-seeking one from the inland empire that represents the lost souls of San Clemente via the great Inland Empire of Riverside....

Issa is a crook, just amazing how uneducated the electorate is in this district

I don't know if I can keep my breakfast down this morning. The lazy sheep in this district followed the big fat D next to Tetalman's name despite the fact that he is NOT qualified for this job! Apparently people don't even bother to research the other candidates!! Now in November, Issa will take another 2 years of this district's soul and piss on it some more. Why does this Patch article mention that Darrell Issa is an Army Vet? His military record was deplorable and he was effectively kicked out! Guess I'll have to vote for the milquetoast Tetalman in November. What a shame. =(

A sad day in this congressional district. I don't think I can vote for either Issa or Tetalman. Republican crook and pawn for the big corporations vs. a guy who just ran because no one else was running and isn't qualified. Great choice!

Hooray for Issa!!!!

You are a seriously misguided person and I pity you for looking up to a corporate whore like Issa. He does NOT have the interest of the common people at heart. Only the wallets of the 1% like him (and you I guess). SAD.

Al, j, Christine, Dave - Please pick up your bongos and purple shirts on isle 6. Do you not understand the Democratic Party doesn't care about you. They drew the district lines so your votes wouldn't mean a hill of beans. You were thrown under the bus.

If one looks closely into the current legislators running the state of Calif and the Fed government you will find an equal amount of corporate donors on both sides most of the time. At this time you'll find more on the Democrat side. They all do a pretty good job of keeping it in the background as much as possible. Want to know more on them all ? Lean on ALL of the print and TV media for investigative disclosure in equal parts Then maybe the average citizen will be less likely to be polarized and more likely to feter out the nonsense
Christine Bevilacqua June 06, 2012 at 07:59 PM
Never said I was a fan of the Dems. I voted Independent! I agree there are plenty of corporate donors on both sides, but Issa takes it to a whole new level- not to mention his abysmal record on Women's Rights and the Environment. BTW I love bogos and purple shirts and I'm proud of it ! :p

Ok, but don't be a sell out. I'm sure their are "Independents" running in November. And make sure your bongos aren't made in a third world country that discriminates against women and pollutes.

Thing with Issa is there's pretty good evidence he's been a car thief, an arsonist, and a perpetrator of insurance fraud. There was a big New Yorker article about that a few years back. Since then he's gone on witch hunts against sustainable energy companies, and refused to give access to women on panels directly concerning them. His voting record is on the right side of the republican party, which is saying something. The question then becomes, would you buy a stolen car from this man? Well, I guess if you're just as corrupt as he is and you've got a crony deal to make that will further degrade this once-beautiful area -- but the rest of us would vastly prefer someone who represents American values of honesty, decency, conservation, and ingenuity. The money power is in ascendency right now, but its principles are all backwards, and it is bound to fail soon as the oil economy collapses and the environmental consequences of its unbridled actions become more and more apparent to a horrified public. We need a sustainable future, not a quick deal to make the rich richer at the expense of everything else. Issa is, under the slick suit, a foolhardy criminal who would take us all down with him.

Alex, please file a police report. See if the DA will decide to press charges. Come back and let us know how that goes. And for goodness sakes, hit return once in a while.

I have been a volunteer for Jerry Tetalman for over six months now and can tell you that he is intelligent, caring and HONEST. He doesn't have gremlins in his closet and he is passionate for peace and protecting California's coastline. He is a moderate, which is what the congress desperately needs now and has had leadership roles in his career. He was encouraged to run by other politicians who believe in his abilities. Nice positive words. Issa is no longer my Congressman due to lines being moved a few years back. But if I lived in your area I would want to read up on Mr Tetalman based on your honest posting. I would suggest the others posting "other" negative comments aren't helping your cause. That only scares away the "middle."
James Martin June 21, 2012 at 05:19 AM
I just gave money to Issa's opponent. This witch hunt has gone to the extreme. I find those who watch Fox, sorry I mean Faux, "news" to be so misinformed that they're simply brainwashed. They drank the cool aide, and got a refill. Agreed, this guy is scum. Sometimes, the scum rises to the top.
