Babies on the Way!

Support our military who are expecting new babies. Far from home, with little or no other support your gifts are greatly appreciate. Soldiers' Angels needs your donations to provide assistance.

Over the last weekend Angels in California showered some very deserving Military Families, who are expecting little bundles of joy in the next few months.  Each year my team of Soldiers' Angels holds two baby showers to ensure that families in the area get the support that they need. Invitations were sent to Balboa Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton and 29 Palms. This time there were 12 USMC families in attendance, all of whom are ill or injured and recovering with the Wounded Warrior Battalion West.

Each family received a laundry basket full of goodies for new baby. Angels from Operation Top Knot, all over the U.S. sent baby clothes, handmade scrap books, knitted caps, booties, burpie cloths, and stuffed toys which overflowed each basket. One Angel (Jennifer Ciari) created home-made quilts in the shapes of turtles and butterflies for each baby. One of the service dogs adopted a blanket so we are fairly sure baby to be will never get to use it! Too cute! Employees from Vericrest Financial stepped up in a big way and donated travel systems, pack n plays, bath spas, high chairs and more. Each family was able to pick a large gift that they needed for baby by raffle system.  Cynthia Martinez made diaper wreaths for all and we had masseuses on hand. Ahhhhhh

Baby Showers like this one are hosted throughout the year all over the nation. Sometimes even by way of “Virtual Shower” over the internet. Our goal at Soldiers’ Angels is very simply “May no Soldier go unloved…” which for us includes their families and families to be. Many of our military members and their immediate families are far from home and their support systems, which can be really tough on these families. Without friends or family close by, things like baby showers can get overlooked. Beginning a family is an exciting time in a person’s life, and we believe that everyone should be able to celebrate that, especially Heroes that fight for our freedoms every single day, so throwing a shower is the least that we can do to show our love and support of our Military Families.

Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to shower these amazing families, so for your assistance we thank you. I would like to thank the Angels who sorted and packed the weekend before the shower. In addition, thank the angels who brought home-made icecream (Deana Jaffe), camoflouge cupcakes (Danielle Vasquez and her nephew Andrew) and fresh chocolates (Jassline Zurheide). We also served chips, fruit and sandwiches.
