Oceanside College of Beauty Sends Love to 2 Boston Marathon Victims

Celeste Corcoran, a hairdresser, and her daughter Sydney were injured in the attack and salons are offering support in their recovery.

Kudos to the Oceanside College of Beauty, which spent Saturday raising money for a hairdresser who lost both her legs in the Boston Marathon bombings.

The college hosted a cut-a-thon and raffle to benefit Celeste Corcoran, who attended the marathon to cheer on her sister. Celeste's daughter Sydney also was badly injured, suffering a severed blood vessel, but her leg was saved.

Ray Stainback, the college's owner, said in a statement posted on the school's web site that “hopefully the money we raise can help assist with the women's rehabilitation,” and help Celeste if she wants to return to her career.

Stainback said the students took the initiative to host the fundraiser for the Corcorans. Many other spas and salons across the nation have put on events to aid the mother and daughter, he added.

Sydney Corcoran told a Boston TV station the family motto for moms and daughters is “We're not wimpy women.” See the above video for more of their story.
