I cannot get over the irony- the most rabid anti gun nut job in the state Senate, Leland Yee, getsRead More busted for selling guns illegally. This is just too poetic. Should he fall on his sword.... or his bullet button?

Amazing. The cartoon encourages us to make fun of ourselves. Yet, the only responses are cynicalRead More anti-everything conspiracy theories (except that bit about land developers buying the Oceanside City Council, which, no matter how cynical it sounds is actually true). Let's lighten up a bit.

Political cartoonist are able to get away with the things they do because it is labeled a 'cartoon'.Read More But the simple face is they are try to poke fun and wake up the masses as to what is happening under their collective noses. To 'lighten up' and not care about what is going on is suicide. We need to get in people who understand what is going on and want to work hard to change it. Yes, we have the best politicians that money can buy. So what does that say for the rest of the world?

I'm glad this Obamacare debate is finally over. Everybody wins. Good healthcare that's affordable isRead More the best way to go for everyone.

Considering less than 15% of America needed health care in the first place (the rest of us get itRead More from our jobs) why couldn't we have found a different approach to this problem than taking even more out of the paychecks of those who pay for health care through their jobs? 87% of these new sign-ups are also getting subsidies to help them pay for their health care. Guess who is going to be stuck with that bill? I understand everyone should have health care, but sticking the bill with people who are already overwhelmed with paying the highest taxes in the country to support people who refuse to work is getting to be just a bit too much. And, after reading some of the stories about how much the premiums are going up, how much some of the medicine is going to cost, it will hurt everyone in the end. When will people start to realize that the guy in the White House doesn't know what he's doing and most of the time he's lying to the American public?

This is a losing argument, he can appeal, but it cannot win. In Illinois, despite similar wishes,Read More the end result was that law enforcement had the burden of proof in denying someone a concealed carry permit. Which is only logical; the Bill of Rights automatically provides the right to keep and bear arms, so to prevent someone from doing so requires real cause, not a sham excuse.
A judge issued a tentative ruling in favor of the San Diego County Water Authority, declaring that the Metropolitan Water District's water rates violate state law. Patch photo credit: Penny Arévalo.

Isn't it nice that a major company can break the law and have their lawyers handle it, while if weRead More citizens did the same thing we'd be thrown in jail. Time to build a pipeline from a friendly well stocked water state and bypass these guys. I've never seen their rates go down, and I probably never will.
San Diego County officials will hand out more than 1,900 child car seats for free this year. Patch file photo.

First off, its not "the state" that is giving the grant, its the tax payers, second, I 'llRead More bet everyone showing to collect the seats, has an iphone.

I hope they check for a valid drivers license with a matching auto registration before giving awayRead More these way overpriced seats .... my guess is a lot of the people getting these seats are unlicensed illegal aliens ...

This latest storm is a good start. However, have you noticed all the runoff we're losing down theRead More drains in back into the ocean? We need more dams like the one in Hemet (Diamond Valley) for the lean times. And here in Southern California there are more lean times than not. Especially when we have a need to build, build, and build some more.

Toilet flushing used to be the biggest water waste in California but, thanks to the low flush toiletRead More rebate program toilets are no longer the biggest household water waste. It's now people waiting for hot water at faucets and showers multiple times each day. So when will we see water rebates for people who install hot water recirculators in their home? New Mexico has been doing it for years?
Donald Snyder March 23, 2014 at 08:15 am
I have been saving my water from my shower (turn it on, wait for ever for it to heat up) because myRead More water heater is on the opposite side of the house. I take that water after I shower and throw it over the balcony onto the grass below. Saves watering the plants as well. It's amazing where I work how many people blast the faucet on full speed to wash their hands when they only need a trickle. And some of those idiots leave it on when they leave for fear of touching it and getting germs. It's hard to enlighten stupid people. Most just don't care.
