Need Stylish Back to School Bargains? Look No Further Than Goodwill

According to the National Retail Federation/Prosper survey, back-to-school and back-to-college spending combined will reach $72.5 billion this year.  Though most school shoppers (67.1%) will visit their favorite discount store for school items as they did last year, 13.7 percent will look for goods at thrift/resale stores.

Goodwill retail and online stores are a great resource for gently loved, unique, and designer label clothing and dorm room décor.  

“This time of year is always fun for us!” said Beth Forsberg, VP of Retail Operations for Goodwill Industries of San Diego County.  “Our stylists and merchandising staff pull out their favorite outfits and accessories from incoming donations and create the coolest displays.  So cool, in fact, that restocking the displays has become a sought after assignment for retail staff!”

“Our accessories and jewelry items are sought after.  We have customers who show up at our front doors every morning just to see what has appeared overnight, and online-  well, that is an even more exciting story” she added.

Stylish teens and tweens know what they need to impress and, according to the survey, the kids plan to chip in. Teens will dole out $30.13 of their own money, and pre-teens will spend an average $18.45.  Parents of college-bound students will devote the greatest amount of the budget to dorm room furnishings.
