Aviator to Become Commander of Camp Pendleton, MCI-West

Brig Gen. John W. Bullard, Jr. will replace Brig. Gen. Vincent A. Coglianese.

A Marine aviator with combat and humanitarian relief experience will take the reigns on Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps installations in the West.

Brig Gen. John W. Bullard, Jr. will replace Brig. Gen. Vincent A. Coglianese as the commander of Marine Corps Installations - West and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in August, base spokesman 1st Lt. Ryan Finnegan told Patch. 

Bullard is currently serving in Afghanistan as the Deputy Commander of Regional Command North for the International Security Assistance Force.

In his career, he served in Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as in operations against Lybia in 1986 and hurricane relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina, according to his official biography. 

He has masters degrees from Webster University and the Air Force War College.

Coglianese will remain on base as the commander of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force's 1st Marine Logistics Group.
