Grace and Molly are two Pit Bulls Looking for Loving Homes off-Base

Dolly and Grace are looking for homes outside of Camp Pendleton because their breeds are not allowed on base.

Editor's note: Two Pitbulls—Dolly (below) and Grace (read about Grace)—are looking for homes outside of Camp Pendleton because their breeds are not allowed on base. The article below was submitted by the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter.

This is Miss Dolly and she's 2 years old, and she is an awesome family dog.  She is house-trained and great with kids.  She is friendly and outgoing in personality, and she loves to be with her people.

You might recognize Dolly, because she was here a few months ago.  The folks who adopted her found that she doesn't like to go for walks with other people and their dogs all in the same group at the same time.  She doesn't care about other dogs at a distance, she just doesn't like other dogs getting in her space.  She is active and playful, and likes to play tug.  She will need to be the only dog in the home.  She has been an indoor/outdoor dog and is in the house when the family is home to be part of whatever is going on, and she behaves nicely in the house.  She know the command "sit" and likes to get a yummy treat as a reward. But, umm, - Dolly is a bit chunkier than when we first had her, so more exercise and fewer treats would be a good thing.  :-)   Got room in your heart and home for darling Dolly?

We are going to give her an HHD when she's adopted.  That's an Honorable Humane Discharge from life on a military base.  You see, because of her breed she can't live on base, so she needs a home off base.  Might that be with you?  Her adoption fee is $50.

The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Adoption Hours: Thursday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Please DO call the shelter to check on the adoption availability date for our pets to make sure the one you want is ready to go!
